My birthday

Hi all,

Tomorrow is my birthday, a very big day. I turn 29, and it will be only one year until my thirtieth. It is freaky, the years are flashing by now. Ali and I have talked about it previously about how time seems to not take up as much space in our heads as before.

When you are 4 years old 1 year is 25% of your time on earth, but by the time you are 30,40,50 or more. That 1 year is a very small part of out mind, we think that is why the years appear to be speeding up. Which sometimes can be terrifying when a moment ago we thought we were a few years younger.

Anyway moving away from such thoughts my actual birthday is tomorrow, 13th June 2017. On Saturday the 10th June we spent the day out in London, seeing the sites, exploring, having dinner and trying to break codes.

We started out around 3pm in Tower Hill, why? To obviously go to the Tower of London, I have always wanted to go but never had the opportunity. That changed for this birthday, and on a gloriously sunny Saturday afternoon I got to explore parts of the Tower of London.

Now we were really only there for three hours and saw only a few of the buildings, you can easily spend a full day here exploring everything. That is what I want to do sometime in the future, come back early morning and just have a nice long look at everything, from all the buildings to displays.

We got to see the crown jewels exhibit, which was very awe inspiring. We also got to see the armour from the ‘Line of Kings’, a suitably fantasyesq name but one that lived up to it. I wouldn’t want to be a medevil peasant and turn around to see a man riding a horse in full plate and armour, and the horse would also be in full plate armour.

In any case, it was very fun to have a wonder round. Afterwards we headed to a Steak house to eat, where I promptly got a chicken burger. I really fail sometimes, I decided on a Steak house to eat Steak, but I don’t usually keep to my word. In the future I will try and eat more Steak, especially in  restaurant that caters to it.

Anyway the burger was fine, the company of my friends finer still. We played games, chatted and annoyed the local tables. We got a few looks because of how loud we were, but it was a restaurant and I feel other people were loud along with us.

Last was the Escape the Room, which was Codebreakers in South Kentish Tower. ETRs are the main things we do when we meet up, we literally do it for every birthday that we have. This one was perhaps one of the better ones that we did, not just because we managed to actually win with 30 seconds to spare.

It was based in South Kentish Tower tube station, not actually sure if it was open during WW2 but it appeared like it. Anyway we took the role of Codebreakers, trying to break the Nazi code. It was fun, we managed to all work together as a team, a little bit better then we usually did. Perhaps it is because right now we have done 15+ ETRs, in any case we all had our roles in finding clues to escape and break the code.

The last comment I have is that it was very nice seeing my friends again, we don’t meet up that much due to our busy lives but it is always nice when we do. I do need to make more time for my friends, now in life more then ever. Friendships are one of the great things in life, and I do treasure my friends and do want to show that to them more.

Anyway that was my Saturday out, it was very fun and now that the days are getting sunnier I do want to spend more time out.
